About this deal

Geek & Sundry Painters Guildis hosted by Will Friedle as he explores the wonderful world of the miniature hobby! From painting minis for board games, miniature wargames, and RPGs to scratch building showpieces and creating terrain, you can learn alongside him from master teachers every episode.

The new, reformulated, range of Shade paints still contains all 12 of the colours you already know – with Nuln Oil (24-14), Reikland Fleshshade (24-24), Agrax Earthshade (24-15), Biel Tan Green (24-19), Athonian Camoshade (24-21), Drakenhof Nightshade (24-17), Seraphim Sepia (24-23), Carroburg Crimson (24-13), Casandora Yellow (24-18), Druchii Violet (24-16), Coelia Greenshade (24-22) and Fuegan Orange (24-20) and has also been expanded with the addition of 7 all-new colours. Adeptus Mechanicus: Hexwraith Flame’s ghostly, eerie color could make a great contrast to the red of the Adeptus Mechanicus’ iconic robes, and would make their metallic bodies stand out even more. It could be used to great effect on their Skitarii soldiers’ weapons and armour, as well as their tanks and artillery. We’ve also improved the existing Hexwraith Flame and Nighthaunt Gloom Technical paints to benefit from the ground-breaking science behind Contrast.

He Slimed Me

Apply a thin layer of glaze over the area you want to cover. Unlike a wash, you don’t want it to pool up in areas. You want a nice, thin coat.

Cover the model’s primed figure in Nihilakh Oxide. This stuff is pretty thin and runny – treat it kind of like a wash or shade. I didn’t add water (don’t tell Duncan). I went right from the pot to the model and apply it pretty sloppily. Hey – I said I was lazy didn’t I?! Also, Wait for the model to completely dry. With vibrant, in-your-face, colours dominating the new Contrast range additions, it was important to ensure those paints have the best possible undercoat to be applied on to, and so we are also releasing our brightest undercoat of the modern era, with White Scar spray. (which also replaces Corax White spray). Following in the footsteps of Wraithbone and Grey Seer sprays, White Scar spray has been developed to provide a perfectly flat and smooth surface onto which painters can apply any of their new Contrast paints, and as it’s our brightest undercoat, it’ll also provide the very best base for your customer’s miniatures when they use Contrast colours. All six of these Skaven classics are available from 10am local time today until 8am (BST) on the 18th of July 2022. The last classic Chaos Space Marine to step out of the Eye of Terror is the Aspiring Champion miniature. Festooned with abhorrent details and wielding two cruel blades, he’s ready to slaughter foes in the name of whichever Ruinous Power you pledge allegiance to. Let’s say you’re painting some zombies and you want some interesting skin tones. We’ve all seen various zombies in movies, TV, comics, etc. You’ll notice that the skin tones on zombies tends to lean towards colors like green, purple, greys, etc. All colors that give the impression of something dead.

Nighthaunt battletome

These are: Kroak Green (24-29), Poxwalker (24-30), Targor Rageshade (24-31), Mortarion Grime (24-32), Tyran Blue (24-33), Berserker Bloodshade (24-34), and Soulblight Grey (24-25) That’s all there is to glazing. I’m sure I could write more and bore you all to death, but that’s the basics of it.

The Shade paint range has also taken advantage of improvements in paint technology, using technology from the latest Contrast range, into our Shade paint range. Making this new and improved reformulation of shade paints the best Shade Paints we’ve ever made. The new Shade paints do exactly what they did before, but better. So, this color scheme is not difficult and doesn’t pretend for the Golden Demon. But it looks nice and lets you paint the entire army in no time at all. Overall the model is not too challenging at any particular point to paint, but there is a lot going on with it. My suggestion is to make sure you have a plan from the start; the most challenging thing was that I was kind of making it up as I went along and could have done with a little more forethought about how I was going to deal with all the details. I’m using Hexwraiths to showcase the process as I didn’t take pictures when I was working on the actual models in Soul Wars. The Emerald Host have been gathered to do the bidding of the Nighthaunt’s Mortarch, Lady Olynder. On her behalf they carry out the Emerald Curse and inflict terrible mortal wounds on the enemy. In practice, this means you can choose D3+1 enemy units on the battlefield, and you deal D3 mortal wounds to each of them at the end of each battle round if you roll a 2+ for that unit. This is particularly punishing for armies with high armour saves and no Ward saves – Kharadron Overlords, we’re looking at you.If you thin paint with water then you’ll find that the paint goes on streaky. That’s because the water breaks the binder in acrylic paint. The beloved Citadel Shade range has been reformulated to flow better into the recesses of your miniatures, leaving less pigment on raised areas and making painting faster and easier. In addition, seven new colours are being added to the Shade range. White Scar Spray

Unless you’re in a speed competition take your time. You just paid good money for these models – slowdown, dry fit the bits before you add glue and take your time. Follow the instructions for assembly and you’ll be done before you know it. All three infantry units in this box are battleline choices, making this a very strong foundation for any army. To expand this into an army, you could consider Craventhrone Guard, crossbow toting ghouls who can target enemies they can’t even see with their ethereal bolts, and who will benefit from the Knight of Shrouds’ Spectral Overseer ability. Hexwraith Flame can be used with adjacent or analogous colors on the color wheel to get a striking color combination. The following three Citadel Color paints can be combined with Hexwraith Flame:Well folks, that’s all I’ve got for the Nighthaunt Hobby Tips and Painting. I hope you find this useful with your own Nighthaunts! Necrons: Hexwraith Flame’s ethereal, ghostly quality is a perfect fit for the undying and immortal Necrons. It could be used to great effect on their Gauss weaponry, vehicles, and the armor of their Necron Warriors. So after getting frustrated with this I finally decided to come here and ask for some advise. I've had a few units of spirit hosts and hexwraiths laying around not painted pretty much because the last time I tried painting them was when I just started like a year ago so ago so they turned out horribly. They've since been stripped and sat on a shelf and I've improved while working on 40k stuff. Another example is some terrain I worked on for Warhammer Underworlds. I primed all the terrain white and then painted it using washes and glazes. The washes gave shading and depth, and the glazes gave it color.
